1/2 Marathon for the Beginner!

I just completed my first 1/2 Marathon and you can't imagine the learning curve that came with it!
Here's everything you need from beginning to end in one place.

Now, all you need is the courage to start.

I used Jeff Galloway's Training Schedule he created for www.RunDisney.com
They are 21 weeks long and VERY easy to follow, even for beginners

Everything you need to know about carb loading properly RIGHT HERE!
Don't make the mistake by eating one large spaghetti meal the night before . . . you WILL regret it.
Loading properly will guarantee enough glycogen stores to get you to the finish line.

(Order a full size small and leave the mask and boot covers at home)

RECOVERY:
Something you don't think about until you can't walk the next day and you've gained 10+ lbs of water weight.
First 72 hours HERE
Little more info HERE
All about Lactic Acid, DOMS, and the link to swelling HERE

You CAN do this!

Loves,
Teresa

Neverland 5K in Disneyland!

First off, let me say Disney knows how to throw a first rate race!
They've thought of everything and the whole process is smooth.
We arrived the night before and headed to the Disneyland Hotel for packet pickup

There were employees and volunteers everywhere to help guide us, each with a huge smile!
The Disney shuttle was free for the weekend and it stops at all "good neighbor hotels"

The race started at 5:45AM complete with fireworks and Tinkerbell flying above the castle.
The Disneyland trumpeter played the national anthem with all of us singing to it.
Seriously magical stuff ;)

Here's the course map:

Characters were out, employees were out to cheer us on.
At each mile marker was a clock and water at the halfway point.
We got to run backstage where they house Christmas floats and ride pieces they're working on.
He ran also got to run through the new Cars Land!  SO AWESOME!

Our families were waiting at the finish line where we got out medals!

We also received a "treat box" and water.

My little girl wanted to dress up like a "tiny tinkerbell" since I got to be a "big tinkerbell"

Best run ever!  Thank you Disney!
